By the way, in the past, I have found that the appearance of updates can vary from machine to machine. Maybe some form of "caching" phenomenon, but that really shouldn't be the case. I had imagined that the software update server system might consist of a plethora of distributed servers, with some servers not getting updated properly behind the scenes. But this is just a guess. Could be bad karma, as claimed by some ;-)
