flash drive trouble

I wanted to do some work at home this weekend, and for some reason when 
I stuck in my flashdrive with file from my windows work machine, which 
has worked fine before, there's a message saying there's no 
recognizable mac volumes and to initalize..which I know is computer 
speak for erase everything!
 Help!
