In the interests of knowing for the next time :
Connect your flash drive to the mac,
Go Applications - Utilities - Disk Uitilty and open disk utility
Disk utility collects info on all your drives
Click on the Flash Drive
Window opens and you will see First Aid , Erase, Restore.
Click on Erase ( Nothing happens yet )
Now look at Volume format ... Click and hold on the arrows to see
the full range of choices.
If you wanted to reformat... you would now select the Format
and Click on the Erase at the BOTTOM of the screen.
Check it now so you know for the next time.
Have fun
I have a Legend PenDrive 2.0. When I try to do what you suggest, I
have no option to format as a PC drive.
I am now using OS10.3.4
When I click on the Flash ( Pen ) drive and look for the range of
choices I have 5.
MacOS Extended Journaled
MacOS Extended
MacOs Standard
MS-Dos File system
Unix File System
The PC file system to use is MS-Dos File system
If I click on one of the hard drives i get only 3 choices
MacOS Extended Journaled
MacOS Extended
MacOs Standard
I don't think i had the 5 choices under Jaguar but I cannot check at
the moment.
So be sure you have highlighted the Pen drive and if you are not in
Panther that may be the reason.
Anybody ?
Bob
Also --->
So, I have formatted the drive as a PC drive, and installed a mac disk
image on it, so I can backup my mac files with long names etc.
(Thanks to Shay for the private suggestion).
I would like to know:
How I can PC format a partition from the Mac?
do you want that on a hard drive or the pen drive ?
FWB Hard Disk Tools might be able to help for a hard drive .w
How I can get the Mac disk image to auto open when the drive is
inserted?
Sorry .... Cannot help
Cheers
Rob
