Recording speech

I have this memory (dream?) that OS10 came with a facility to record 
voice.  Not just that provided by Speech to allow voice commands, but 
a program that created a file as you spoke using the built in 
microphone.  At the time I thought that it would be great to develop 
an aural history and burn the files to disk.   Did I dream it?
