Hi Wamuggians !
I have spoken with Kevin Lock about the school that got the Macs. It
makes a very interesting story and I have persuaded Kevin Lock to come
to the BBQ as my guest to tell the Group how they got the Macs and
printers to Catur Primary School in Bali and set them up. I sat
fascinated for an hour plus on Sunday morning and I think the Wamug
group would be interested to hear a potted version. I had ideas of
auctioning off the remaining BBQ beef and snaggers and putting this
towards the maintenance of the Machines. A 'tech' has been located who
for $2.00 an hour is willing to service the machines. It is obviously
no good these kids having these machines if as soon as they run into
problems they are stuck.
The computers were got through customs with the help of The John
Fawcett Foundation, an Australian who has the ear of the Prime Minister
so this not some 'tin pot organisation' and there are safeguards in
place to stop the equipment going into the hands of undesirables!
