Hi folks.

I hope someone can help with this mystery.

I have installed a small ethernet network at home. One of the sockets is in my son's bedroom. He has now moved his computer to his bedroom, but when he plugs the network cable in, Windows says that a network cable is unplugged.

I get the same message on my wife's Wintel laptop when I plug it in to the same socket.

However, when I plug my powerbook in, the network works fine.

I have replaced the cable in the wall, the wall socket and the network lead, and the symptoms remain.

Does anyone understand why a mac should register on the network while 2 PCs don't?

Cheers
Rob
