I have been following Michael Schmidt's problems with interest as I
have happily moved stuff around four external Firewire drives with no
hassles.
In any case, I strongly recommend the use of the freeware iPhoto
Library Manger which allows you to have multiple libraries, great when
your collection gets large, and you can locate them anywhere at all,
rather than in the Pictures folder only.
