I recently installed iLife05.
Since then I have had big problems with iPhoto.
Now when I launch iPhoto the Main Window with the film rolls in it
always
opens back at my first rolls (july 2000).
When I try to scroll down to the latest film rolls, I get the spinnning
beachball cursor. This continues for 20 or 30 seconds. Sometimes
during this
process when I click on the iPhoto icon in the Dock I get the
"Application
Not Responding" message.
Sounds like a permissions/prefs issue (it can't remember your settings).
If you've got something like iPhoto Library Manager:
<http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/7158>
Use it to reset your iPhoto library folders permissions to read and
write.
You can also use this to create multiple separate libraries (something
5.0 should have added as a feature IMHO).
I have tried to follow the thread of recent posts on this and another
list
regarding similar problems. I have rebuilt the database.
I have upgraded to iPhoto 5.0.1
I have 5,000 photos. The Help section says iPhoto should handle up to
25,000
photos.
Did you update to 5.0.1 before or after upgrading you iPhoto 4 library?
Glitches in the upgrade process is one of the bugs the 5.01 patch
should fix.
Does it seem I should delete my iPhoto Library and copy my backup copy
(done
in iphoto4) from an external drive?
This sounds like a good idea, particularly if you updated the library
using 5.0
I've updated my libraries without issue so far (though the most I've
got in one library is ~1000 photos...)
