Geez, they didn't waste any time :-) He pretty much made out that it was pretty hard to become a Mac Genius with Apple (easier to get into Stanford!), but the job mainly involved getting crap out of CD rom drives and other standard tech work :-) Oh, the other thing about paying 'Apple Sticker tax' on spare parts - if it has an Apple sticker on it, its worth ten times more!
I think it was more of a whinge on how he was 'sold' on being a Mac Genius at an Apple store was very prestigious, but in fact it was really no different to a tech job at a normal reseller. What would tick off resellers reading the journal (when it was up), is that Apple provides that service for free (obviously for warranty work). It was quite funny though! For those who aspire to working for the Crew from Cupertino, it was a good reality check :-) Seeya Rod!
