there shouldn't be a problem how ever you didn't list what was on the machines IDE channel - I seem to recall they had 2 IDE channels both supporting master/slave so you can run up to 4 IDE drives so CD drive + primary hard disk plus 2 other IDE devices. I would - out of habit - put the boot disk on a separate IDE channel from the CD drive.

for more you can buy an PCI IDE controller card for less than $130 though I don't know it the ones at most PC shops are compatible with the 33Mhz IDE slots not my area of expertises I'm afraid- some one more knowledgeable on IDE architecture may wish to enlighten us.

I have a rev 2 B&W G3 with 3x9GB scsi drives installed. Because of the limitation of running my boot disk on 9GB, and the high cost of larger SCSI drives, I want to replace one of the drives with a cheaper IDE (attached to the Ultra ATA port).

Are there any problems in doing this, or anything I should be aware of?

Can I use any size IDE drive?

Thanks for your thoughts.
