I have an (uncompressed) backup of a folder tree on another machine.
By mistake I began working on numerous files on the BACKUP copy.
Is there an app to do a simple comparison of the 2 folder trees to
find the modified items?

Get a text listing of both using something like ls and then diff them
in bbedit or with diff.
Or you could find a copy of Quinn's System Folder Diff, which
probably would still run in Classic.
Alternatively I have a python script which could probably be modded
to do something similar, although it's designed to remove duplicate
directories. :)
