Try opening the application and changing the settings to how you want them with _no_ document open. The changes should stick as the defaults next time you open a new document.
When a new text frame is applied the default text is Times size 12. In MS Word, too. Is there a way to change this please?
Easy - Go to the menu item" Format > Font and make the desired changes, then click on the button in the bottom left marked "Default..."
