software for heritage Macs

My (adult) daughter has been given an old Mac with OS 7.5 and 
Netscape 4. She has only 40Mb of RAM. Is there a cheap or free 
browser which would allow her to access hotmail or another free email 
and to do some reasonable Internet browsing?

She only has a slow dial up connection so needs something fairly 
lightweight and as she is a Mac newby - easy to use.
