Hi List,
` I have just recently purchased a new Mac Mini (lovely machine) and
with the (100%) assistance of Peter Hinchliffe, transferred all data,
system library and apps over via firewire from my iBook 500. This
worked fine so I purchased a Firewire cable for myself.
The problem now is that this new cable (the second one I have tried)
is not seen by either machine. Any ideas?

Hi John,
How are you connecting up the firewire cable and to what devices? If
you are connecting two machines together, one of them has to be in
Firewire Target mode (restart mac and hold down the 't' key until a
floating firwewire symbol appears). Otherwise, connect the device and
the mac mini with the cable. Then go to 'About this Mac' in the Apple
menu, then click more info. Click on FireWire in the side menu and see
if any devices appear in the list. If not, there may be a problem with
either the cable or the device you are connecting to.
