Funny you should bring this up just now Stewart because my wife's son has been working in the UK for about 6 years and has just moved to the United Arab Emirates.

The variation in phone rates has forced us both to recently to adopt Skype. He has found that the built-in microphone on my eMac is not very good with Skype. Because he uses a PC, he has bought a Logitech USB Microphone and I must say the clarity on this end is really very good.

Consequently I have been looking at prices for these. They seem to vary between $31.00 and $50 at online sites, and delivery is always extra. There is also a Verbatim model for about $13 but I don't think it is USB and I don't know how good it is.

The other thing is that Skype have indicated that video is high on their wish list, so in the near future it might be worth investing in an iSight webcam which also has a built in microphone. I don't really want to invest in a microphone twice.

I am still deliberating this one.

Hi all,

I'm wanting to try out Skype and am looking for a recommendation for a USB mic (I've a Quicksilver G4 with NO mic slot!)

Can anyone recommend a cheap usb mic that they have used with Skype?
Or are they much of a muchness?

Thanks in advance for any assistance

Stew
