Considering some of the "unusual" programming ideas from our tv stations (any West Wing fans here? You know what I am talking about!), you can see why a model like this might be okay, as long as those who create the shows can make some money.

I would have thought they made their money by selling box DVD sets at $100 or so. Oh, and the merchandise...

Box office - US$5.67 billion
Home video/DVD - US$2.8 billion
Video games - US$1.5 billion
Books - US$700 million
