It has been my experience setting these things up that I have encountered at least 2 DOA ones (dead on arrival). If you have followed the instructions careful and it doesn't show up when it's meant to it's probably dead. Take it back to where you got it. Apple are pretty good about DOA stuff within a certain timeframe.
