Well, it's not as good as the same one using DVI, but I wouldn't write
it off completely. I have an LCD at work that uses VGA output - and it's
very crisp and nice, has good colour, and generally works extremely
well. It didn't cost much either.

Personally, I'd pick DVI if at all possible (I remain bewildered as to
why so few LCDs support DVI) but VGA isn't all that bad.

Mark, with your problem, I STRONGLY recommend checking that your
system's resolution is set to the LCDs native resolution. It sounds like
you might be using 1280x960 on a 1024x768 LCD or similar (some will
permit this and "helpfully" scale down) which will look utterly awful.

I can't argue there. I've been wondering for a while how good the colour
fidelity (NOT brightness or colour "richness", but "truth" of colour)
and contrast on those Apple LCDs are. Are they coated?
