Hi All! Wondering if anyone knows a good source for pre-amps for microphones? I'm getting crappy performance from a range of Mics that I have tried, where you pretty much have to put the mic in your mouth and yell to get anything on the level meter :-) After some research, I have found that I need a pre-amp to boost the signal into the Mac (G4 MDD, G4 450DP and G4 667 PB).
Does anyone know of a good source of these pre-amps? I don't want to spend the earth, as I just want a good setup for iChat/Skype and a bit of a stab at podcasting. BTW, Mart you should jump on the bandwagon with the WAMUG streaming. Call the audio download a podcast instead and list it also on iPodder, Podcast Alley etc. On a side note, I think podcasting is one the most brilliant things to come out of the iPod boom! I have had some much fun in the last few days downloading all sorts of different Podcasts (even Dr Karl from Triple J has one now!), that I have ditched listening to morning (rubbish) radio in the car and plug in the iPod instead. It will be interesting to see what Apple's implementation is like in iTunes 4.9. And one last thing (on a roll here!), for those who are still waiting for iTMS to roll around, check out: <http://www.garageband.com> (no relation to the software) Tons of independent and unsigned bands are on this website, where you can download a whole heap of free mp3s to listen to. Just about every genre you can think of. Some are little, ummm, crap, but it all comes down to what you like listening to. They even have a section where they recommend bands that sound like a famous band. Very cool site to support those who are struggling to make it! Seeya Rod!
