I use Panther on mine and have no partitions. Make sure you have iMac
firmware 4.1.9 update applied on the machine and it's HD is formatted
to Mac OS extended format other than that you should be good to go.

Hi,
I have been conned into upgrading a family member's OS from 9.2 to
Panther.
Her machine is the last of the dual boots - iMac G3 500Mhz, 256 RAM.
Carbon
lib
1.5 and ROM 8.3.1.
Is there anything I need to be aware of? Any firmware updates or just
little
tricks that anyone would like to pass on?
Any help would be greatly apreciated. I have put this off for over a
year
and have finally run out of road to hide on.

On that machine I think the boot partition needs to be *less* than 8Gb
in size, and it needs to be the first partition on the disk. I think
this is mentioned in the Panther readme on the install CD.
