Can anyone please advise me if, with the main focus on Entourage, there is any advantage or otherwise in upgrading from Office X 10.1.4 to the current Office 2004 version. There is a new CEO at the NFP organisation, where I put some time in, who is a Microsoft victim and is having some trouble coming to grips with the fact that an iMac doesn't have M/s XP or Explorer. He's a very smart man but a bit of a Richard Head when it comes to computers.
There are a few notable improvements in 2004 over 10.1.4 such as the way comments are handle in Word files, and I beieve support for Exchange Server is improved in Entourage. There are also several major enhancements which do not appear even in the Windows version, such as the Notepad. The problem is, though, that Word continues to be Word (which helps make Windows users more comfortable) and the Mac interface is often way too Mac-like for Windows users to accept easily. For example, it is really hard to get the Mac version to take over the ENTIRE SCREEN, as Windows users like to see.
Fortunately, the Mac has a lot more going for it than just Micro$oft Office, but most of that is lost on those who can't see the point.
