HP PSC 1210 probs

I have set up an HP1210 all in one printer,scanner and copier 
friends' iMac 333mhz running OS9.2

It scans and copies well, but will not print all the text from a 
Eudora email unless it is copied and pasted into a word processor 
application.  Same goes for PDFs from the desktop.  It prints scanned 
text and photos well.

I operate the same 1210 on OS10.3.9 with no problems.

I have checked paper size and the scaling and all is OK.

Any ideas here?
