I dont want to seem a wet blanket but a friend of mine who sells
mixing gear at a large music store tells me that 7 out of 10 mixers
returned for warranty are behringers.
There are similar mixers at similar prices so dont fret ;)
but you'll find that close to 6 out of 10 mixers sold are
Behringer... but I will agree they are built down to a price rather
then for long life and durability - when they work they are better
than good enough - and as with all budget stuff they need to be
treated gently in the rough and tumble world of music rehearsal rooms
and live stage work.
My experience with Behringer products as a whole has been that final
quality control is lacking - how ever the standard approach (at
least with Kosmic and others) to this is that they take your faulty
unit off you and immediately give you a replacement unit rather than
having to wait around for days/weeks/months (as is my experience with
for say Sennheiser/Macie/Shure/Gibson) for a service
department/contractor to decide if it is even covered under warranty
let alone to repair or replace it.
In the amount of time it took Gibson to decide if they were going to
honor the warranty on a Trace Elliot amp of mine I could have picked
up (say at the rate of one a week) 15 new Behringer bass amps if they
each decided to die on me (that said only needed it replaced once the
second unit is still going strong and with it's third owner now).
