Well I do computer support for a job (mostly Mac but I have to deal with
PC's too) and all I have in my bag is, ... Let's see:
A large magnetic Phillips screwdriver, small magnetic Phillips screwdriver,
ditto with flatheads. A Maglight Torch, some paper clips, assorted screws, a
Firewire cable, USB cable, Ethernet Cable. CD Wallet of OS's Utilities and a
very important CD for Windows containing Service Pack 2, AVG anti-virus, and
Spybot Search & Destroy.
Oh and of course my Powerbook :) For Mac stuff I rarely use anything anymore
except the Powerbook and a firewire cable. Screwdriver to take drives out
(although you don't even that for G5's anymore).
I recently (when I went on holiday and cleaned my bag out) retired some
things I hadn't used in about 2 - 3 years like Boot Zip disks, Floppy
cleaning toolkit and some 68k Mac boot & utility floppy disks (almost
brought a tear to my eye retiring those).
Many people of course have fancy multi-head screwdrivers and Swiss Army
everything but I've found in the last 6 years that the more I pay for a tool
the more likely it is that I will leave it somewhere and never see it again
so it's cheap hardware store type things for me now.
Also with the preponderance of Broadband Internet I rarely get any CD's out
of the kit either as with the speed of development there is always a newer
driver, patch or version of whatever I have anyway. The CD's are just in
case I can't get to the net and even then I mostly just get whatever off the
hard drive of my powerbook. Except the PC stuff of course.
Anyway that's about it.. Hope it helps
