Hi fellow WAMUGgers I am sending this email as a WARNING to those who buy games online.
Please be aware that a company who advertise as GAMES MARKET are a SCAM operation. I have recently been ripped off by them. They state that they can fill orders for games, demand that the money for the games is provided up front, then don’t deliver.
After taking your money, they make themselves un-contactable (ie: the phone diverts to an answering machine, they don’t call back when messages are left and don’t respond to letters, emails or faxes).
I lodged a formal complaint with the NSW Office for Fair Trading recently, and they were unable to get the rogue company to respond either. They did inform me, however, that they had another complaint pending against this company for the same situation.
Short of paying a fee for a tribunal hearing against them (which would be held in NSW), there is little I can do to retrieve my money. The NSW Office of Fair Trading require further complaints to publicly ‘out’ the company as a black market operation (it seems that two complaints are not enough).
My warning to you, is DON’T DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY. If you know of other gamers or parents of gamers, please warn them about this company. If you do know of anyone who has also been ripped off by this company, it may be worth suggesting that they formalise a complaint to the NSW Office of Far Trading.
(The only reason I used this company was because that told me that they could get a game for me that I couldn’t get anywhere in WA).
