You don't say how or in which direction !
If it's Target Disk mode :-
IF ... you are running the Desktop OS and the Powerbook appears like a
Hard drive
on it's desktop
Then you eject it from the desktop the same as any external device
Apple E in Mac OSX or Apple Y in OS9
Then Power off the Hard drive you have just ejected ( laptop ? )
and you should be safe to disconnect the firewire cable ... Desktop
end first.
ALWAYS ... If you have any doubts ... Power down both machines
before unplugging the firewire cable.
