It's possible and I've done it. You need enough free space on the iMac to copy the entire DVD though, plus space to install it. This may require you backing up docs and pics to the other computer first if you need to free up space.
There may be other ways but this is what I did.
I assume your iMac has no dvd drive.
Using Target Firewire mode, copy the entire dvd onto the iMac from the computer which has the dv drive. Then open this image and install in the usual way. You can't install it directly to the iMac using firewire as the installer will only work if its running in the OS you are installing to!
