Paul,
I have noticed an occasional spelling mistake in the CDDB database, but
nothing worth crying over. I haven't noticed the problem you seem to be
having with being unable to correct Disk# , year etc.
Re: your automatic import CDDB names problem: you might be able to try
one of the various itunes scripts to import instead. The link below
seems to suit your needs:
<http://www.dougscripts.com/itunes/scripts/ss.php?sp=importandeject>
from the blurb:
"iTunes Preferences allow you to Import Songs and Eject a CD on
insertion, but this setting gives you no opportunity to manually edit
CD track tags, especially desirable when erroneous CDDB data shows up
or none shows up at all. This script applet will import the enabled
(checkmarked) CD tracks using your choice of available encoders. When
finished, it will restore your Preferences-set encoder and
automatically eject the CD. Works under OS 9 and OS X."
there are also a multiple other scripts to sift through that might be
of use, many of which manipulate MP3 tags which may be of use.
Alternatively, trashing prefs and unchecking the "automatically connect
to internet for itunes data" off the wizard as suggested by someone
else may be the simple answer.

Subject: ITunes and Gracenote gripes
From: Paul Weaver <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Am I the only one annoyed with Gracenote and iTunes 6.
Every time I put a new shop-purchased music CD in the computer there
is an
automatic connect to Gracenote and down comes a whole lot of usually
error
riddled information about what is supposed to be on the disk.
Tardiness seems to have been a rule of thumb in many of the CD entries
from
Gracenote I am now forced to endure.
Some data like the titles and album names can be corrected, but other
columns like Disk#, Year and Comment can't.
Unlike with previous versions of iTunes there now doesn't appear to be
any
way of stopping the auto-connect feature, apart from unplugging the
modem.
Have I missed something obvious with these observations? If not, I
wonder
If I can trash iTunes 6 and try going back to the previous version?
My machine has iTunes 6 on SYS 19.3.9
Gripingly, Paul.
