Correct. "Image J" is the JAVA incantation of NIH Image which has
been around in the Life Science space for over a decade (Mac first).

I don't know the answer off the top of my head but (FYI) there is also
something called "ImageJ", which I think is from NIH, and it is a
Java-based programme that can be downloaded as a Mac application. I
have it and use it, but I don't know why.
