Hi Paul

buy that book.
Just checked. It's out of print but available from Amazon! A good
friend gave it to me many years ago. There is a sequel of course, and
I had that until (presumably) someone else wanted it more and never
returned it, or someone destroyed it!
However,I checked my battered old Oxford Concise Dictionary
and its says that cerebral in relation to music is when it appeals
to the
intellect rather than the emotions. I think my cerebral tastes have
partially come from watching Frasier on TV.
I thought acerabral was when someone spread their arms and dived
head first
into the mosh pit at a rock concert. But going by Mr. Bowler's
definition,
I acknowledge it could also apply to classical music fans - the
type who
clap their hands in rhythm with the performers at concerts.
Perhaps crowd surfing could be instigated at a mosh pit at the
Concert Hall during a Wagnerian Festival: "Flight of the Valkyries"
perhaps?
I think some of the rap and hiphop stuff I see on Rage is somewhat
"acerebral", in Bowler's sense of the word, but then again there are
many who obviously like it and it must earn enough for the 'singers'
to afford all those gold chains and big black cars ;-)
Literary effectuation can be really be enhanced by throwing a few
foreign
words. I never do that.
Best wishes, Paul:)

La grenouille dans le fauteuil
You may also enjoy the movie "The Triplets of Belleville". Truly
delightful and a weeny bit cerebral.
