Hi, Has anyone noticed the different licensing conditions of Flip4Mac compared to Windows Media Player? For all those who have installed Flip4Mac, do any of you adhere to its licensing conditions?
It stipulates, among other things, that "Back-Up Copy. You are permitted to make one (1) back-up or archival copy of the Software (excluding documentation) in machine readable (object code) form to support Your authorized use under this Agreement. Such copy shall be labeled "Copy for Back-Up Use Only and Not for Resale." Documentation may not be copied. All copies are the property of Telestream." Does Telestream inform you of where the documentation files are installed (so that you can exclude them from your backups), and how do you all label your backup copies as "Copy for Back-up Use Only and Not for Resale"? Invisible ink? Even Microsoft's Media Player licence allows "You may install and use a reasonable number of copies of the software on computers at your premises.". The Flip4Mac website knowledgebase doesn't seem to contain any articles about the intractability of the license. It also states: "Telestream shall have the right, upon reasonable prior notice to You and during Your normal business hours, to audit Your use of the Licensed Materials and to inspect Your records related to any copies of the Software, or portions thereof, made by You." I assume this is not done via any "back door" mechanism within the software itself?
