.sitx is stuffit's new format.  It varies from the
.sit format in that it is further compressed, making
it an appealing format for those paying for the
bandwidth that your using to download your files.

What you probably need to do, is to download the free
version of stuffit that supports the .sitx extension. 


A quick look on the stuffit site reveals that they
have a page on the definition on the .sitx file.  (In
case you have trouble sleeping)

They have a different version for 10.2.* , hopefully
it's good enough.
