I have a problem!

My wife's iMac has a problem. When you move the mouse cursor to the  
right the desktop moves to the left :-( and the same happens with up  
and down. I have a 20/12 granddaughter who likes Macs and who may  
have adjusted the settings, has anyone any suggestions?
