As others have indicated, it depends mostly on what programme you use to make your document. If you are using AppleWorks, can you tell us which of the following you have created: Word Processing, Drawing or Presentation document? You can use the toolbox to put an image into the background. However, I think it does not work so well with Word Processing because of the margins. Maybe you can copy and paste the poem into a Drawing document and add the watermark there? Sorry, I don't know enough about AppleWorks.
