Hi Ken.

You could always do a screen capture (Apple-Shift-3 for the whole screen, or (Apple-Shift-4-hold and drag) for a selected area.
In Photoshop, save the screen grab as a JPEG.

Or copy (Apple-C) from Word, and in Photoshop go (Apple-N) for a new greyscale document, then paste (Apple-V) into this new document. Save it as a JPEG. When you create a new doc in Photoshop, it will use the same size as the copied info in the clipboard.
You don't even need to use the text tool in Photoshop.

Depends though on what you are trying to achieve.
