Hi Wamug folks.

I don't think anyone touched on another handy screen-capture technique recently... And many people find this extra info invaluable... In particular, using the 'space-bar' when you press Command-Shift-4.

A little off-topic from Denise's original post re OS 9 screen-shots, but invaluable for OS X users. Here is the fully summary of screen shot short-cuts that I inform my staff about:

-Command-Shift-3 -> full screen snap-shot, saved to desktop, as Picture 1.PNG (and sequentially numbered after that) -Command-Shift-4 -> select the area of the screen you wish to capture, saved to desktop as per before -Command-Shift-4, then press Space-bar -> select the window using the cursor, that you want to capture (no more drawing an outline), saved to desktop

Also, using the Control key copies the 'capture' to your Clipboard, for direct pasting into your email, or a Word document (or Photoshop, or wherever you like). I.e.

-Control-Command-Shift-3 -> full screen snap-shot, copied to clipboard, ready for use in other applications -Control-Command-Shift-4 -> select the area of the screen you wish to capture, copied to clipboard, ready for use in other applications -Control-Command-Shift-4, then press Space-bar -> select the window using the cursor, that you want to capture (no more drawing an outline), to clipboard...

(Command key = key with Apple symbol on it)

Hope this tip makes someone's day :-)

Cheerio,
Derek
