Good luck

Thanks Paul,
The test showed download speed of 2.7 KB/s, upload 11.7 KB/s
I think I'm in trouble!
Your upload speed is normal for a 512/128 I think.
My Westnet 512/128 tests as 47 KB/sec down and 11.7 KB/sec up.
There are a number of things that can affect the speed .... so I tried
3 different test sites
and on my Arach.net 1500 / 256 line got these results
87 KB down / 20KB up
119KB down / 18KB up
136 KB down / 23.7 KB up
The theoretical possible speed for a 1500 / 256 line is in the order of
155 down / 25.5 up
but that all depends on how close you are to the exchange , the link
circuits to the Test site ,
and the server speeds at whatever locations in between .
There has been a general degradation of performance of the network,
reported mainly in iinet and westnet threads in whirlpool.net.au
forums, naturally because of their greater share of the market.
Both Westnet and iinet have pointed to "upstream provider" difficulties
being the basic problem.
The effects are patchy, irregular and neither isp's reps are enjoying
the bad ride their petrol-head customers are giving them. Ha!
I'd have a bet on things improving generally when the next billing
cycle for isps and their bandwidth providers comes up. This may of
course be a signal that plan fees are going to rise.
