and had heard if often occurs to the 240v versions of the device.
Anyone out there have a testimonial to share? I liked this product
but now I'm a little weary.

No experience with apple radio transmitters but there's a parallel with RF headphone transmitters. Not one that I've ever owned has lasted more than a year, with the median lifetime being 6 months. These are plain transmitters, no 2-way controls, with the transmitter bundled very tightly with the power supply. I played with the last dead one and got it going with a bush carpenters fuse. For about another hour.

I'm an unusual kind of user because I would run them for around 5 hours a day every day if I could be bothered continuing to replace the failed ones - which each of 3 manufacturers have always done without charge, but with no admission of any inherent design or construction fault. Apple must be shopping for their power supplies in the same Jaycar and WES catalogues that I go to ;-))
