Thanks to everyone who responded by offering advice or the loan of a drive to do my task. Christian Kotz was quite right, usb floppy drives only read the 1.4 MB floppies. This was demonstrated to me this morning when Robert Miller-Eves called by and we tested his drive with both capacities of floppy. The majority of my floppies are 800k so I just have to get on with it on my Performa.
Thank you.
Merv

I have a library of old floppies. Yesterday afternoon I spent several hours transferring floppies to my Performa with the intent of shifting them to my iMac for burning on CDs. I've hardly scratched the surface and thought the purchase of usb floppy drive might be a sensible alternative.
Has anyone used these devices?
Do they read 2DD floppies (800k) as well as 2HD (1.44k)?
Advice appreciated.
