I have been given a power point presentation that my Microsoft
Office 98 version of power point attempts to open and then quits.
The presentation's name has a suffix of .ppt.
Looking at other PP presentations that I have received and
successfully opened I notice the suffix is .pps
Have I encountered a feral file?

Merv, do you have Keynote installed on your Mac?
If so, drag the .ppt on to the Keynote icon and it should open. (or
open keynote, select File Open and select the .ppt file)
Or try icword from http://www.icword.com

As I don't have Keynote and downloaded icWord and it opened the document.
I am none-the-less puzzled as to why other power point documents will
open and not this one with my version of PP. Perhaps the version
with Office 98 is now too old.
However, thank you for your help. At least I can see what has been
forwarded to me.
