just my 2c
i made the "jump" to os "tiger.7"
result i lost a lot of comercial/expensive software .....had to !buy! upgrades in the range of total nearly $1000.- so check first if all you progs are "tiger-proof" or if you can get updates/upgrades for an reasonable price
you may consider 10.3.9 update & see how you feel.....
the speed of your mac seems reasonable, mine is a powerbook 17", 1.3ghz, 1gig ram, 80gig hd
cheers James

Hi

I'm running a 1 Ghz G4 with 256 MB, and my present operating system is 10.2.8.

Do you have any advice about my best options for an OS upgrade?

Rob
