Rod,
I'm sure that Aperture will pick up Canon 400D support soon,
probably in a Mac OS X update (since I believe RAW support is now
being bundled into OS support). It's going to be a very popular
model.
Have you tried Lightroom btw?
Lightroom's a pearler of a program - not as "sexy" as Photoshop but
probably a far more useful tool.
I find that 95% or more of my photo's never see Photoshop, they get
imported and post process adjusted and printed out completely in
Lightroom.
I only export them to Photoshop if I need to local editing say
dodge/burn or any masking operations.
that said it's still in Beta so some features don't work e.g.
exporting a picture to Photoshop then editing and saving in Photoshop
then going back to Lightroom the image stays as the original pre
exported image (I think this may be not handling multiple PS layers
as I always keep the original image un edited in layer 0 and edit in
to a new layer or adjustment layer)
