Hi David, Don't know if this would work with OSX but, if it's just firewire which is damaged, have you tried installing over ethernet?
I seem to remember I did this to install apps which I only had on floppy disc when I got my G4 powerbook (with no floppy drive). I installed the software from my (much) older mac, which didn't have firewire but did have ethernet. The G4 was running OS9 and from memory, I just mounted the G4 disc on the old machine & then just selected the appropriate folder when asked where I wanted to install. I haven't had cause to try it under OSX though. Hope that helps. Neil -- Neil R.
