this stuff (well programs /like/ this) have been kicking around since
OS 8 - anyone who fitted a Matrox Mystique/Millenium card and then
_actually_bothered_ to install the drivers would have found a virtual
desktop program included.
With OSX 10.5 Apple introduces their own take on VIrtual Desktop (no
doubt using the tried and trued Apple development path of finding
someone who's done a good free/share/demoware take on it and made
them "an offer you can't refuse")
I kicked around with a Virtual desktop for a while on OS 10.2... it's
nice and handy when it's just you and your 12" ibook but nothing
beats the "real" desktop real estate of 20"+ monitors for
usability.... though obviously the price advantage is firmly in the
Virtual Desktop software's camp
