I use the very popular Australian developed "OziExplorer" on a cranky old free PC laptop with no battery (runs off an inverter) when travelling in my landcruiser with a Garmin etrex. You can run OziExplorer via Virtual PC, tho MacGPS Pro is highly regarded by the Mac users in the 4WD community. http://www.exploroz.com/ is a local WA site that sells heaps of digital maps to go with your digital mapping software. Search for digital mapping in their shop section. They also have a FAQ about digital mapping. I downloaded all the maps to cover Australia from Geosciences for free - pretty time consuming and over 1Gb. Choose Topography at https://www.ga.gov.au/products/servlet/controller?event=DEFINE_PRODUCTS Neither of the software products are turn by turn software and I'm not sure if there is any that is Mac centric.
