Hi Jon, Thanks for that information. I took it to them this morning. Very pleasant and efficient people.
The problem was the CCD which failed - but it is the subject of a free replacement by Nikon. Apparently Sony manufactured the CCD unit and supplied it to a large number of camera manufacturers and it is now starting to fail in a range of cameras and models. Hence the recall and replacement. A two week wait and I will be in business again.
