Here's a response from Ken. Thank you WAMUGgers... however I don't
seem to be getting any WAMUG mail. I haven't received my posting, but
have received two copies of a reply from Barb, at 2.39 and 2.41pm.
I'm puzzled.

Dear Reg,
Thanks for the response and especially for Bob in Perth.
Sorry I seemed to have sent so many copies of the email but it did
not appear as 'sent'.
Bob suggested Firewiring the two Apples and form the iMac HD User
Library put the last message in the Trash. I did that plus the
Reply I had sent. No improvement initially. Bob had ideas for
repairing the Permissions but the iMac would not allow me to sue
the CD (probably because it was an older System on the Disc.)
The menu kept disappearing but when I checked Spotlight to look for
something it said 'Indexing will take 59 minutes'!! So I left it an
hour or so and all seems to be back to normal. I am grateful to
Bob for his phone calls and help. We think that the RAM had been
corrupted and now has come good.
Please cancel any flights or bus trips East just for my benefit.

Dear Reg and other GMUGers,
How I wish you were closer.
Yesterday I received an emain from a business associate. It has a
pulsating rainbow as part of its letterhead. As I replied my cursor
began pulsating and turning into a rotating ball. The Menu bar would
disappear and reappear ever few seconds. The Apple Menu became
inoperative and the Hard drive icon disappeared.
I have reset via the side button and restarted from the CD and still
the problem reamins.
I am sending this via my iBook (G4). I have attempted to describe
the
fault on the Apple webpage seeking answers but my description
doesn't
fit their list.
Help.
