I'm just theorising Adam - it could be that the indicator of the wireless
signal strength is 'lying' to you. Have you tried a few tests copying large
files, between 350meg to 1.4gig ?

You'd want to watch the process and see if it slows or hangs at any point...
My thought is the signal strength may not be a good indicator of the
sustained bandwidth.

Someone with more experience than me may wish to debunk that idea. :)
