-- Has anyone any experience on inputting Chinese characters into a
Mac, eg into an Appleworks word processing file?
-- I've found out a certain amount, but can't get past some
difficulties. With a word processing page, choosing a Chinese font such
as Beijing used to let me create characters by hitting one or two
alphabetic characters followed by Return. Now that feature seems to
have vanished, I just get the roman-font characters. I've tried to
find a table of key combinations giving particular characters, but no
luck.
-- The 'Show Character Palette' under the flag menu brings up a table
of characters, but copying and pasting characters from this into an
Appleworks document does not work. Also, this palette used to offer the
Pinyin (romanization) equivalent for a character (eg ma1), but this is
now always blank for me.
-- Does anybody know any answers on this, or where to look? I've
googled many pages, but so far only found ones which describe the
various input methods and coding schemes used, rather than practical
stuff on what keys to press to get the ma1 character. TIA.
