I am trying to solve a difficult problem in iPhoto 6.0.6
This is running on a G3 700MHz gumdrop iMac. OS X 10.4.9 with 1 GB RAM.
When doing some editing of a photo in iPhoto the changes are never
saved, it says "saving changes" but they are never displayed (or found).
This is a new problem on an existing set-up. Things used to work just
fine.
Attempts to remedy the problem to date include;
delete iPhoto preferences file
run repair permissions (way too often)
rebuild pre binding
delete all the caches
run YASU
run applejack
run disk warrior
run disk utility
reinstall 10.4.9 combo updater
reinstall 6.0.6 updater
create new user.
do a funny little "laying on of hands"
none of the the above have fixed the problem.
I'm getting desperate and it seems that I am now left with a
reinstall iPhoto from the iLife DVD or a reinstall from the Tiger
DVD, always more difficult with this machine as it only has a CD-RW
drive and not a DVD. It is possible but a bit of a pain using an
external drive and disk image.
I'm sure that there is a fix, but I can't find it on Macintouch or
MacFixIt, or many other sites doing a search. So if you know, please
drop me a line, my daughter will be very grateful. Perhaps there is a
conflict with something installed by myspace or youtube or something
else that kids all have on their computers these days.
